DON'T BE AFRAID!

There is a lot of fear in our world today. Some fear is about disease and other fears are of going over the edge economically and politically. We are still  in a complex and ongoing war against terrorists. Churches need faithful servants, families need help and countries need leadership. Even the earth itself cries for help through its earthquakes, floods and storms.
Yes, there is plenty to fear in our world. Crime and abuse, disease and disaster, greed and apathy all surround us. Politicians promise much and do little. Sometimes we feel like prisoners to forces around us we can’t control. Who can deliver us from all this?
Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ can, because He became a prisoner. In the Garden of Gethsemane, He willingly gave Himself up to the authorities and walked the way of sorrows to the cross of Calvary. His suffering and death have bought us back from the brink of hell and given us eternal life.
The Bible says in Romans 8:31-32, “If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with Him graciously give us all things?”
Jesus didn’t run and hide in the face of fear. He didn’t avoid danger, but rather put Himself in harm’s way for our sakes. Because He did, He’s won the battle against Satan, and we have the prize of peace with God.
Jesus is Lord of all - all people, all the world, all the universe. He is also Lord of our fears. His gift to us is His precious peace - peace of mind, peace within our soul, a peace that is ours now because He Himself is for us, not against us.
No matter how badly life may be treating you right now, no matter how rotten the world may look, no matter how lousy you may feel, remember that God is for you! Don’t be afraid. Who cares who or what is against you?  Trust Him, keep praying and watch how things will get better.

Lord, help us not be afraid. Remind us You love and care for us. Amen
